Carving The Pumpkin

Every year, Joshua's school has a pumpkin carving contest.

And every year we turn our pumpkin in on the first day and by judging day.. its moldy and falling apart. So, this year, we were out to find something simple that makes a big impact.

And my mom found it on the Internet.. it was perfect.

Here are the supplies... do you know what it is yet?

Hint: Cookies, Big Eyes, and blue paint!

John carves the pumpkin. (I really should make him wear shirts for pictures, but never think about it.)

Joshua and I take out the guts.

And Joshua paints him blue...

Did you guess what he is yet??

Cookie Monster!!!

YUM YUM YUM!!!

Look how cute he turned out...

I am loving him... thanks Mom for the idea!!!

First Day Of Preschool

So Joshua has been a 'school' kid since he was two years old... and by "school kid", I mean he goes to school 5 days a week... all year long.

But today was his first official day of Preschool!

He was Semi-excited to go. I mean.. he has been going to school all summer long, so this is just another day for him. He was super excited about his new clothes and his back pack.

I set up a few things outside to see if I could get some first day pictures of him, and this is what I got...

Yippee!! He looks so happy!!

I told him to laugh here... so I got "somewhat" of a smile.

This one is my favorite. He is so cheesy!

And that book? He picked it out at the library because he thought it was about a Super Hero bunny... to his surprise.. it was not..  but its a cute book. The bunny does not want to school, but in the end of the book, he does not want to leave school.

Ironic?  We have had those days. I fight Joshua to get out of bed. I fight him to get dressed. I fight him to get in the car...

... and when I go to pick him up he will ask me if I can come back later.

Yes.. Irony.

When I picked him up today and asked him how his first day went. He said it was good. They didn't learn nothing today, they just read books and played. He showed me where his cubby was and then gave me the bad news that he is not allowed to bring his blanket or pillow to school anymore... he was very sad about this.

But all in all.. it was a good day, and hopefully a good year.

Happy first day of Preschool little man!! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you!

Joshua's Art Work

What kid doesn't love art? If Joshua could major in something in PreK.. it would be art. He is always bringing crazy stuff home, even if its just a piece of paper that he cut and glued onto another piece of paper.

Over the last year I have collected my favorite pieces and I have decided to share with you my top 5 favorites.

1. Elephant hand print. It's a elephant.. its a hand print. Seriously.. I giggle every time I look at this one. I love it!!

2. Dr. Seuss anyone? I love this one just because I am in love with Dr. Seuss. I know I have seen this done a million times, but its even more special when your kid is the one who brings it home. I want to frame it!

3. Butterfly mess. Yes.. its messy and everything is glued stacked on top of each other... but its beautiful. A beautiful mess... with glitter.

4. I don't know why I like this one so much. Probably because he was so proud that he decided to put his pom poms on the circles and none of his friend did....  or that is what he told me. He came home a proud little boy with this creation.

5. He made this one for me for Valentine's Day, so its very special. He says he rolled up all the balls by himself and decided where to glue them... but then he got tired and just stuck stuff on there. Either way... it was my Valentine.. which makes it extra special.

School Easter Party

Today was Joshua's school Easter party. He has been waiting all week for this....

Seriously...

This is how our conversation went every morning...

"Mommy do I get to bring my eggs to school today?"

"No."

"But Why?"

"Because your school decided to have it on Thursday."

"But it is Thursday."

Sigh.  "No it's Monday."

Huff. "Mom! I know my days of the week... Sunday, Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, and today is Thursday!! I will go get my eggs."

"NO!!!"

Wahhhhhhhhhh..............

Rinse. and Repeat.  Every morning until finally.. Thursday was here!! Thank goodness.

He had so much fun though. Here is Joshua and his classmates getting ready to go outside to get the eggs.

(Joshua in purple, Landon in White, Tyler in blue and Ryan in white holding red bucket.)

Finally.. they were let loose....

He got like 23 and 1/2 eggs. Check out this great smile....

Then it was time for good food with great friends.

Trike A Thon

Every year, Joshua's school has a Trike a Thon to benefit St. Jude's hospital. Last year, Joshua raised the most money in the whole school.. which was awesome!! We always love to help out charities and especially when they involve kids. St. Jude's is kind of special in that we have a cousin who has been helped by them. He has some cancer of the eye and eventually had to have his eye removed. I don't know a ton about the situation, because they are some of our distant cousins in Louisiana, but I know that he is one adorable kid and that is he doing great!

Here are pictures from this year's annual riding of the Trike's. I am so glad that both John and I were able to attend because he had so much fun with all his friends.

Nothing but smiles and determination!

Giving Thanks At School

Today was Joshua Thanksgiving party at school. He was all smiles as I arrived to sit down with him.

The children got to pick whether they wanted to wear a pilgrim hat or a Indian hat.

Joshua said he wanted to be a "pildian".. half Pilgrim.. half Indian..   only my child..

Granna was on her way home from the hospital. (She finally got one drain out). So her and Grandpa stopped by to join in the celebration.  Joshua kept telling his friends that the party was for him.... and he even thanked them for coming to his party. It was cute...  I explained to him over and over what the party was for, but he still insisted that the party was in celebration of him.

The teachers made place mats that the children could bring home and this is what Joshua's said....

He is ready to go on our Disney cruise... only a year left!! haha..

Picture Day At School

Today was picture day at school. Before he left though, I wanted to take a few pictures of my own.

So I put him in the backyard and said, "smile!".. and got this...

I said.. "Act natural now.. you don't have to smile."

and I got this...

I said.. "Strike a pose!"

and got this...

I said.. "Lets take one for Daddy."

and got this...

Lets hope the professional got better pictures than me....

Fighting Fire at Preschool

With his Meema finally here, this little boy could not be more excited... except.. its Halloween!!!

Who isn't excited about Halloween??  I know we are ready!

Today he gets to wear a costume to school. He is wearing his pirate get up tonight... so to school, he chose to wear his firefighter costume. He giggled and laughed as he and Meema talked about how much fun he was going to have at school today. (They were making candy apples.)

He says he is going to have a great day at school, but he can't wait to get home and go Trick or Treating!!
