Carving The Pumpkin
Every year, Joshua's school has a pumpkin carving contest.
And every year we turn our pumpkin in on the first day and by judging day.. its moldy and falling apart. So, this year, we were out to find something simple that makes a big impact.
And my mom found it on the Internet.. it was perfect.
Here are the supplies... do you know what it is yet?
Hint: Cookies, Big Eyes, and blue paint!
John carves the pumpkin. (I really should make him wear shirts for pictures, but never think about it.)
Joshua and I take out the guts.
And Joshua paints him blue...
Did you guess what he is yet??
Cookie Monster!!!
YUM YUM YUM!!!
Look how cute he turned out...
I am loving him... thanks Mom for the idea!!!
A Card From Granna
Joshua received a card in the mail today. He is always excited to get mail.
It was a Halloween card from Granna and Papa wishing him a Happy Halloween.
And this was right before his meltdown... he didn't want anyone touching his card....
And in response... he wrote Granna a letter of Gibberish and asked me to address it. He ran out to the mail box and put it in there... with no stamp. Guess the magical fairies will be delivering it.
(his daddy took it to Granna, so she did get her letter... aka.. the fairies live on..)

Pumpkin Patch
It's that time of the year again... I love the colors and I love the cool weather..... Texas of course.. has neither. Our grass is brown and dying from lack of rain. Our weather is hot enough to eat sno-cones.
However.. we still carry on and pretend its fall the best we can, and that means a trip to the pumpkin patch. This is Joshua's favorite place to go because he loves to ride the train.
We played games. We took pictures. We picked out a pumpkin for each of his classmates and of course a few for the house. We rode the train.. like 5 times. And last, but not least, we ate sno-cones because we worked up a sweat in the 80 degree weather we had that day. (Ok.. maybe 78 degrees because there was a nice breeze.)
Despite the weather, this is our favorite place to kick off the fall season.
A rare picture of me.. I seriously hate pictures of me.. I have gained so much weight, but I have been working on that. Posts to come soon.
This is a orange flavored sno-cone Mom!!
(she thought it might be pumpkin flavored. Yuck!)

Halloween Decorations Inside
I am so late on posting this, but hey.. This month we are late on everything.
October starts the beginning of parties, field trips, football and family traditions.
Throw in a trip to Del Rio and one to Louisiana... and we are getting ready for our Disney cruise... So, I am surprised I have time to do anything! I did finally get our decorations up.... halfway through the month, but that is how we roll around here...
I didn't put up as much as last year, because well.. lets face it.. not much longer and I will be taking them back down.
I am seriously thinking I should start on decorating for Christmas before Thanksgiving is even here... or is that too weird?
Anyways... here is the inside of our house this year...

Living On The Land
One of our most favorite things to do as a family is spend time out on Bauer Ranch. So, after a family reunion in Louisiana, we relaxed... Joshua practiced shooting his BB Gun... and he explored as little boys do. He was excited to see that the orange trees had sprung lots of oranges and begged his Granna and Papa to pick some. So, Granna found a basket and we picked ourselves some Satsuma oranges.
He didn't really understand the whole twist until they fall off method, so he just grabbed an orange and pulled until it broke off... resulting in some "broken oranges" as he calls them. He tried throwing them on the ground until I explain that he just took some of the skin off and that they were still good oranges.
And they were... very sweet and yummy oranges. We came home with a whole bag full.
As Joshua was picking oranges I walked around Mom and Dad's house and took in some very beautiful scenery.
Can I just say again.. I love this place!!
Growing up I couldn't wait to move away... I wanted the city life so much. Now that I am older and have lived in many cities.. I miss the peace and quietness of the country life and everything it has to offer. Most of all... I hate the fact that Joshua doesn't know what its like to have so much land. To run and play so freely with no one yelling at you to stay on the sidewalk.. or get away from the street because the crazy people in our neighborhood only have one speed.. FAST.
Yes, I miss that life. I envy that life. I want that life for Joshua.
One day we will have it again though.. maybe not today, tomorrow or a few years from now, but that farm runs through my veins just as much as it does my father and I can't wait to live on the land I grew up on.. he grew up on...
And last but not least... Pecan trees... ugggghhhh.. I could go forever without seeing another Pecan in my life! But my Dad? He loves them. So the boys picked up as many Pecans as they could find.
I think we are having a pecan cracking party soon... sounds fun huh?
Yes, I know.. I make fun of this now... but I am my father's daughter and one day I too will appreciate these trees as much as he does. I will just have to hire someone to come crack the pecans because that really is not my idea of a fun party.

Fabre Family Reunion
A reunion is a great thing. You get to see and visit family that you haven't seen in years... and even meet new family members for the very first time.
This is exactly what we were able to do this weekend.
Family is very important to me, so when my mom received the invitation to the Fabre/Romero family reunion in Louisiana.. she knew we all had to go.
So we packed up and headed east to the state of bayou's, boudin, alligators, gumbo, and some crazy Saint's football fans.
The weekend was great, we had so much fun and I honestly thing my face hurt from laughing and smiling so much. I remember my cousins... but I didn't realize how much I missed all of them. It has been probably 5+ years since I had seen most of them. I miss them.. and hope we get together again soon.
Here are tons of pictures from the weekend.
