His First BB Gum

Joshua received his BB Gun as a gift from Aunt Lucy and Uncle Grady back in July for his birthday.

However... we are only busting it out now so that he can use it.

Because John works long shifts offshore and gets to miss out on a lot of Joshua's 1st events..we thought we would save this until John could be home with him.

So here he is.... the first time he ever shot his BB Gun..

He has a target for practice, but was upset when he couldn't hit it. So, he asked his Dad if he could just shoot in the field.

All was going well.. until he started pointing the BB Gun at me.. and his dad.. and his Granna.

He couldn't remember that you have to keep the gun pointing towards the ground at all times. I think he was just too excited.

So we unloaded the gun... and he can just practice walking around the ranch with it for now.

Sneak Peak Gilda Maternity

We have so much going on right now... I don't have much time, but I wanted to give a sneak peak of something I have been working on.....

Gilda is a good friend of mine and former coworker. Her and her husband have been together since the beginning of time... (ok.. high school).. but still... they are the sweetest and cutest couple.

And beautiful.. I took over 1400 pictures of these proud parents to be.. here are a few I have worked on so far...

Del Rio, Texas

Our second mini vacation to Del Rio was short, but a very beautiful trip. Beautiful you ask? Yes.. beautiful because the Monarch butterflies were migrating and this means there were hundreds... everywhere.

The kids loved being outside around them. They loved looking at them, and really loved trying to catch them. It was a trip with beauty to remember.

They hung in clusters of 50 or more all over the trees.....

Look how beautiful ....

Vivien and Joshua spent a whole morning trying to catch as many as they could. It was so funny to see them running around with that net. They would swing in the air.. trying so hard to catch a butterfly.

Finally.. when they gave up.. one just flew up on the net and sat there. They were both so excited.

After 20 minutes of it just hanging around... they got pretty bored with it, and didn't understand why it wouldn't fly off.

Finally they took it out of the net, and Joshua ran off to catch more, while Vivien stayed with the butterfly and followed it around for about half a hour.

Later that day...

Joshua decided he wanted to try the swimming pool... in October.

It was cold.. but he had a blast jumping off the ledge and swimming around. (The pool is heated.. but still too cold for me.. I am chicken.)

And of course.. as always.. we stopped by the German bakery on the way home to get some cookies. Joshua picked out a cute Halloween one this time.

It was a great trip, we had lots of fun visiting with family and being surrounded by so many beautiful butterflies.

A trip to remember!

Breast Cancer Quotes

As everyone knows, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer over a year ago. In fact, last year around this time, we were getting prepared for her to have her surgery to remove the cancer. It seems so long ago... because she has come far.. but she is a fighter!! A serious fighter!

Not once did she complain. She rarely asked for help because she was determined to do everything herself.

What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger right?  And she is a fighter!

Today I googled "Breast Cancer Quotes," and I wanted to share my top 10 images that popped up.

On Our Way

Our second trip out west has been going smooth. Only two stops on the way here.. And no one has gotten sick... So far.. So good.

We stopped at Bucee's, which is like the mother store of all convenience stores. It has the best restrooms (which we all know is very important when traveling). And of course there are a million toys and shirts and home decor. Joshua loaded up and suckered his grandparents into buying him an assortment of horses, a cat named spooky.. Or sleepy.. Or whatever his name is for this hour. (seriously I can't keep up.).. And he got a longhorn necklace. Spoiled much? Or really loved? Either way Granna and Papa are suckers for a little boy with big brown eyes.

Our second stop was at Sammy's restaurant. It's a little hole in the wall home cooking place that we try to stop at every chance we get. The best part?? The coloring pictures they have for little kids... Joshua always tries to sneak 3-4 pictures to color before we leave.

We are at our destination now.. Enjoying family and having fun!!

Caught Up

Yay! I am caught up!

I know I just bombarded everyone with like 10 posts in the last two days, but things have been moving fast around here.

John was home for almost 2 weeks and of course when he is home we soak up every bit of him we can because when he leaves again, we never know for how long or when we will get to see him again.

So blogging gets backed up... pictures get backed up.. in fact.. I fall behind with everything.

But family is more important... always.

When John finally did have to go back to work, my first order of business was go get our playroom in order. It has been driving me insane... we needed a rug.. and some sort of art center because I am finding crayons and markers everywhere.

So, my organization kicked itself into full force and I drove to Ikea to try to solve my problem The playroom is now mostly finished. I would like a few more art pieces on the wall, but those may have to wait a tad bit longer, because I want the perfect pieces.

And just so you know.. this is only like 1/3 of Joshua's toys.. the rest are in his room.. and in a hidden toy box in the living room. Spoiled much? nahhhh... he just get two rooms in our house.

And since the redo of the playroom, our house has become the hang out of the hood. All the kids want to come here, so my afternoons are filled entertaining kids with Popsicles, juice boxes and cookies. Lately though, I have been trying to suggest outings because the weather has been so nice. I was finally able to get Joshua and his friend Katelyn outside to ride bikes.

Then, before I knew it.. it was October 1st!! Seriously? Where has this year gone?

This week I went and dug in our shed and pulled out all the Orange and Black boxes I could find.. I was ready to decorate!

I have all the inside stuff up, but want to mow the yard before we put up anything outside.

And then I tortured Garfield and tried on his costume from the last two years....

He is looking down because I had just button the top of the suit.... and it was tight... too tight... and he was like.. "Mama.. I can't breathe!"

So, he will need a new suit this year. Joshua is going to be a ninja turtle and wants Garfield to be one too... this should be very interesting..

Mixed into all that.. My sister in law and I had a Paparazzi Jewelry party... I got a new photo editing program and a ton of Florabella actions for the program... and don't even get me started on all the TV going on now.... my DVR is on overload from all the fall premiers.   And then to top it off.. I got really interested in Game of Thrones and DVR'd the first two seasons.. and then proceeded to do nothing but watch them for 3 days straight.    ..... And Football.... We love Football!!!

So yes.. I haven't been great and keeping everyone up to date, but I am only human and life happens. I am back for now... but have some vacations scheduled in the near future.. so if I go on hiatus again.. don't worry...  I am probably somewhere near a pool with a tropical drink in my hand.

Happy Wednesday!

Lowe's Fire Truck

Another Lowe's Project this week.. it was the fire truck.

Joshua was so excited to go, but when we got there we realized there was a new person in charge and she was terrible. She had NOTHING organized.

So we waited for 45 minutes to get our supplies..  do you know what it is like waiting 45 minutes with an 4 year old?

By the time we got our supplies... this was how he felt....

He was not interested... it took a lot of coaxing to get him to actually finish this project.

It was a really cute project though and I am so glad we decided to tough it out and finish it up because he has been playing with this truck non stop since he made it.
