Lowe's Fire Truck

Another Lowe's Project this week.. it was the fire truck.

Joshua was so excited to go, but when we got there we realized there was a new person in charge and she was terrible. She had NOTHING organized.

So we waited for 45 minutes to get our supplies..  do you know what it is like waiting 45 minutes with an 4 year old?

By the time we got our supplies... this was how he felt....

He was not interested... it took a lot of coaxing to get him to actually finish this project.

It was a really cute project though and I am so glad we decided to tough it out and finish it up because he has been playing with this truck non stop since he made it.

Counting Animals

Under the suggestion of Joshua's pediatrician, we have been limiting TV. So, at night, he gets only 30 minutes before he goes to bed.

He has been fighting me tooth and nail every night.

I always have the same answers.. read a book.. or count sheep.

Tonight he was quiet... really quiet...

So I went into his room to look and discovered this....

Maybe he wasn't counting sheep.. he was counting stuffed animals??

Joshua's Eyes

I let Joshua have a hour with one of my camera's today. He took like 253 pictures... of nothing... of everything.. of something...

This is the world through Joshua's eyes....

Sleeping Anywhere

Ok... I can pretty much sleep anywhere... so can John.

Joshua? no.

He doesn't hardly sleep at all... and NEVER does he fall asleep anywhere but in his bed.

Not tonight.. we found him like this...

Out cold.

Must of had a busy day for little man.

Picnic At The Park

Today we decided to go to the park and have lunch. So, I got my cooler out, packed sandwiches, chips and fruit... and we took off. Joshua had so much fun and it was a very nice day.

A very windy day... but the wind kept it cooler than normal.

Joshua's favorite thing to do? Swing in these awesome swings!!

Then he pretended as if he conquered the world.. and of course in our eyes.. he does every day. He conquers our hearts and doesn't even know it. This little boy is our world.

Then off to the splash pad area. I love that this park has everything you could ever want. Playgrounds for all ages.. a dinosaur dig.. picnic tables... catch and release fishing.. a skate park.... baseball fields.. seriously.... you name it.. they probably have it. We haven't really explored all of the park.. only the parts that look fun for our little one.

It was a great day!! We always have so much fun when we are visiting the park.

Cool Mornings

The weather is getting cooler.. Ok.. Like 5 degrees cooler..   but in Texas where its like 90 degrees every day.. I think 5 degrees counts.

This morning it was nice and around 70 degrees outside...

So we decided to make the most of it and venture out in our pajamas and play remote control truck...

Joshua received this truck 2 years ago from Santa, but never really understood how to make it work.

He is at the perfect age now... and is loving it!!

Then John decided to teach him a thing or two about football.

He is pretty good at throwing the ball, but shys away and hides when it is thrown to him.

Or he tries to bat it down...

It was a start though... and we have many more years of practice until he joins an actual team.

But fall is getting near 'yall!! I am excited!!

Reading Himself To Sleep

Walked in and found this tonight.. it was so cute!!

I love Llama Llama books, and I love the little man who loves to read them.

That's a whole lotta love going on right there!!

Goodnight and Sweet Dreams!

Games With Daddy

Joshua has been really into games lately. So when his daddy got home, he suckered him in right away... and I gave them father/son time.

I have been playing games with Joshua for 6 weeks now.. by myself... and he cheats.. big time.

His daddy doesn't care if he cheats or not... so its better if they play without me. I am too competitive. I don't like to let him do his own thing... I want him to play right... and not cheat.

Monopoly (NFL version) is a little hard for a 4 year old, but Joshua has been begging to play that game, and his daddy let him.

I don't know who won.. or if they even actually played the game. I just think Joshua lined up all the stadiums and called it a day.

Banana Peels

Joshua: "Mom!!!"

Joshua: "Hey Mooooooooommmmm!!"

Me: "Yes Joshua?"

Joshua: "Just in case you ever see a banana peel that looks like this.. don't step on it!!"

Me: "Why not?"

Joshua: "Because if you do, you will slip on it and bust your hiney."

Me: "That only happens in cartoon."

Joshua: "Nuhh uhh."

Me: "Yes, only on TV."

Joshua: "Ok Mom, I will tell you what. I can put my banana peel on the floor and you step on it and we will see if it works."

Me: "Uhhh... We don't put banana peels on the floor."

Joshua: "I will put it right here."

Me: "No, I just mopped."

Joshua: "But how are we going to know if I am right?"

Me: "Your right. Your so smart. I love you."

DEFEATED... for the sake of not having to mop...

Bedtime Stories

John is finally hope and we are soaking up every minute of it!! Tonight was no exception. I was in the office looking at some bills when I heard Joshua beg his daddy to read him a bedtime story.

When I was finished I walked into the living room to see this...  aren't my two guys adorable?

Joshua was loving the story about dinosaurs.

And blowing bubbles in his mouth...

ahahaha..

Still.. it is so nice to have John home. Just hearing his voice makes everything seem right. It makes it feel more like.. home.

Grandparents Day

Happy Grandparents Day!!

Joshua made frames this year for both sets of grandparents and inside the frames are pictures of Joshua with that set of grandparents.

We mailed off Meema and Tetaw's because they live 4+ hours away.

However, he was able to give Granna and Papa their gift that night, and boy was he so proud of it. He was excited to watch Granna open the frame.

After this, we treated Granna and Papa to a night out at Texas Roadhouse.

Joshua has the best grandparents ever and I hope they all know how much we love and appreciate everything they do!

"Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children."

Craftiness

These past few days have been filled with a whole lot of homework and a whole lot of craftiness.

First off, I cannot believe the amount of homework a preschooler has. He has a homework calendar with a writing assignment that he has to complete each night... on TOP of that, he also gets sent home with a homework folder that has a 10 page packet he must complete for the week.

Not that I am complaining... but that is a lot for a preschooler.

It takes up about a hour of his time every night, which is totally fine with me. That is one hour less of making excuses as to why he cannot camp out in front of the TV. That is one hour less that I have to play Batman. (I always get stuck being the bad guys.)

Plus, I like seeing him learn. I like watching him try to figure out how to write letters or watch as he circles the things that begin with the letter "M". It makes me proud.

Our first crafty project over the past few days we to revamp some old canvas I had laying around. They had painted pictures on them that I created when I was in junior high. I was no Picasso... so I painted them white and gave them a blank slate.

The play room is bright and full of primary colors, so we decided to keep the theme going and just do some stripes. I let Joshua paint because I wanted them to be fun and "kid'ish" looking. I think he did a great job.

I also had a smaller canvas that I just let Joshua go wild with. He says its a tree with lots of colorful swings and a snake. You see that? Me either. But I just roll with it and touched up the edges to make them look bright and colorful and not brown looking.

Today, we worked on our Grandparent's Day gift. Did you know Grandparents Day is this weekend? Yea that little holiday snook up on me.

We are prepared though… here is a sneak peak…

Last but certainly not least… this is not very crafty so much as a necessity, but here is my little helper trying to get a piece of laundry action. I hope he wants to help this much when he gets older. I don’t mind doing laundry… I don’t mind even folding laundry… I really dislike putting laundry away. Yep, that’s the worst thing about it.

Happy Wednesday!
